Canada’s Comweb Takes CinequipWhite In-House

Team Cinequip | June 7, 2011

8:24 AM 6/7/2011 by Etan Vlessing

Canadian broadcast sales company CinequipWhite is to be managed directly by studio and production equipment supply giant Comweb Group and William F. White, replacing a management contract under Christie Lites Sales.

TORONTO — Canadian studio and production equipment supply giant Comweb Group has taken its broadcast sales arm, CinequipWhite, in-house.

CinequipWhite will no longer be managed by Bob Johnston and Christie Lites Sales under a management contract.

Paul Bronfman’s Comweb and William F. White International group will instead manage the company directly.

Bronfman, who is also chairman of Pinewood Toronto Studios, installed Larry Lavoie as national sales manager and Marc Ford as national operations manager at CinequipWhite.

And over at Pinewood’s Toronto studio, day-to-day control is now in the hands of Blake Steels as general manager after managing director Edith Myers completed a two-year turnaround of the mega-studio.

Myers will remain on board as a consultant at Pinewood Toronto Studios, which is currently hosting the Colin Farrell-starrer Total Recall movie shoot.

There’s also been a changing of the guard at Comweb and William F. White, where Rick Perotto, most recently business rep for the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) Local 667, was recently named vp of business development.

And David Hardy, business agent for NABET 700 CEP, a rival technicians union in Toronto, has been brought on board as vp of client services at Comweb/William F. White.

Panasonic Af100 – Taking Preorders!

Team Cinequip | October 15, 2010

That’s right, the AF100 is officially being sold as a preorder as of today!

The test footage is in, and many of the critics agree, this is the direction of digital cinema.

Shipping late in December, the AF100 will be this generation’s DVX100. Most likely it will become a mainstay camera that will work better than expected and last longer, due to the fact that it is a removable lens system with a larger than most chip; giving that cinematic look independent Cinematographers, Directors, and Producers alike aspire to see.

Check out the test footage after the jump!

First Panasonic AF100 review hits the interwebs!

Team Cinequip | September 10, 2010

Better-than-DSLR imagery in a professional, proper video body

Looks like Barry Greene got his hands on the new micro four thirds wonder that is the AF100.  And the results? Astounding. It looks more and more like this is the camera people are going to be aspiring to.

Here is his review:

“I’m posting this from the show floor at IBC, where the first working prototypes of the AF100 are being shown to the public. I’ve had the luxury of working with the pre-production AF101, which is the European model of the AF100. Same basic camera, because all of them are NTSC/PAL switchable.
